Back to the beach! We went several times this week because the trade winds disappeared and “the hotbox” (as Ben lovingly refers to our house) just got too hot. Also, the sunglasses I’m wearing in this pic broke that day. I’ve had three pairs just like them and they’re my favorite sunglasses ever. I used to find them on sale at Gonzales Walmart and never paid more than $3 for one pair. We will definitely check for another pair when we go back to Texas in a few weeks!!!
Meet BoobooKitty. BoobooKitty spent a lot of time as my favorite little stuffed animal growing up. One night at dinner, as we talked about the kids’ lovies, Lovey Bear, Bunny, Bunny, and Teddy Nichols, I mentioned BoobooKitty and grabbed him out of the closet to show off. Chris had such a shocked look on his face as I patted BoobooKitty like a baby. Nearly 20 years of marriage and apparently I’ve never mentioned my little friend to him before!
Every once in awhile, you stumble upon your kids being sweet little angels. Don’t let them fool you – they’re not always like this! But when a sweet moment happens, I try to catch it on camera. One of their favorite board games these days is Mancala and you can get it HERE! (I’m also trying out Amazon’s affiliate program so click that link and you too can enjoy a little after-dinner gaming while helping me figure all this out at the same time! #affiliate)
These days I’m working on getting my MDiv from Southwestern Seminary, so I spend most of my evenings like this! It’s not glamorous, but I’ve really really enjoyed learning from some very godly professors. I’m about to take 8 weeks off and my kids can’t wait to have their mom back for a little while!
The biggest news this week: Church! This morning, Psalm 122:1 took on a whole new meaning: “I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” We had two services so it made for an extra-long morning, but we loved seeing all the faces that we assumed were smiling behind all the masks!
And here we have Handsome Preacher Man, doing his thing. It’s been rough preaching to a video camera in an empty room and then spending hours editing video footage. We’re glad that’s behind us! PS – aren’t those flowers gorgeous?
I can’t even tell you how many hours I spent working on this post, wanting to make sure I got it just right because it’s such a tender time in our country. Do black lives matter? Absolutely. Do we need to understand what biblical reconciliation means? Absolutely! So if you haven’t had a chance to read it, check it out HERE. And if I haven’t mentioned it before, let me remind you how it makes my heart sing when you share my posts. I do a happy little dance each and every time!
That’s about it for our week at The Strong Home! Coming up this week we’ve got blood work, a mammogram (no pics, you’re welcome!), and a long-overdue hair appointment. It’s sure to make for a great week. Aloha, y’all!
